More clay and scribing block-work. Once the clay is fully dry it will need a bit of clean up with files, knives and sandpaper.
Also got the round window carved from balsa wood. I might just use the wood version or replicate it in
Milliput
And painted the bell. I had some powered rust which I added to the bell while the paint was still wet. it adds a nice bit of texture to the surface. A quick rub over the edges with a pencil adds a bit of metallic sheen.
A very fine prototype - and this is going to be a super model. What a lovely idea to work on a Christmas project with your wife. I like how you are working with the Das and achieving very good results. I have never used Das with foamcore and I see that you are managing to avoid warping- I wonder if that is because of the foamcore board, as I usually use card as a substrate. Very interesting, I shall follow your exploits keenly with this!.
ReplyDeleteThanks Iain. Its only the second model I have tried in this scale and with these materials so it was more good luck than good management that the combination didn't result in warping.
